Today, we're looking at our Hughes Autoformers Cable Lock, it's 40 inches long, and it's got a nice quarter inch thick steel cable here for security that's also been vinyl coated. So getting into it, folks, this is a nice versatile security cable to help prevent the theft of your gear. Once again, you've got over three feet of coil cable here that just automatically kind of coils back in place. Now, as you use it more, obviously, it's probably not gonna coil as much since it is new. It's gonna work with camping supplies, like propane tanks, grills, bikes, those kind of things.
You'd simply put it around whatever you need to put it around, put the end in here. Once you push it in there, it automatically locks into place. To unlock it, you'd simply insert the key, turn the key, and you're ready to go. So again, just simply push it in and it's locked automatically. Unlock it, pull the key back in, and you're good to go.
Again, it's a nice quarter inch thick, braided stainless steel. It's strong and durable, that vinyl coating's gonna keep that from scratching your gear, but also protect that cable inside against corrosion. You get a set of two keys included. Once again, the cable is three feet, four inches, or 40 inches long, and it's a quarter inch thick. Well, folks, that's gonna wrap it up for a quick look today at this cable lock.

Perfect for my need. Appears to be stronger than previous lock.
I was expecting the steel cable to be 3/8 inch, but the total diameter is 3/8 or they say on package 10mm. So that means the cable is 1/4 inch or less.
Exactly what I needed in order to lock my surge protector and electrical cord to the power box. After adding a ring to the electrical cord which is identical to the one on my Watchdog surge protector,I no longer have to worry about them getting stolen when I leave my campsite.
I do not recommend this cable lock for the Watchdog Surge protector because it’s just one size fits all. The lock works fine and seems secure enough, but there is a newer model you can get directly from Hughes Autoformers that is adjustable in length. Maybe etrailer will start carrying it too. That seems way more useful to secure you surge protector to the power post. Otherwise you need to get creative to figure out how to shorten it to make it work. Still neither is perfect as there are times you need a longer cable than either of these. For the price $[XX] this is a fair value, while the new one retails for $[XX] but is much more usable.
I havent had the opportunity to use this lock yet but it appears to be well made

Doesn’t look very well manufactured. The connector crimp looks like one hit with a hammer and it’s over.
